Tea the Moment – The Art of Being Present

Yama Tea was born from a longing. A longing to slow down, to be present, and to feel truly connected — not just to ourselves, but to the people we love. As a small family of three from Copenhagen — Oliver, Cornelie, and our son Ville — we found ourselves reflecting on what it really means to live well. When Ville came into our lives, our perspective shifted. We started asking deeper questions: Where is our attention? What are we modelling for our child? And perhaps most importantly, What does it mean to be truly here — now?

That’s when tea became more than just a beverage. It became a daily ritual of presence. A gentle pause. A moment to just be. And so, Yama Tea was created with a simple but powerful mission: To help people reconnect — with themselves and with others

The Problem With Constant Distraction

We live in a world where attention is constantly under siege. And one of the biggest culprits? Screens. In Denmark, children and teens are spending alarming amounts of time in front of them. A 2023 study from the Danish Health Authority (Sundhedsstyrelsen) shows that:

  • Danish teens spend more than 6 hours a day on screens.

  • Preschool children average over 1 hour and 10 minutes of screen time on weekdays.

  • Even short exposure to phones during a conversation reduces the perceived quality of that interaction (Det Nationale Forskningscenter for Velfærd, VIVE).

Excessive screen time has been linked to increased anxiety, depression, and feelings of loneliness — particularly among young people. But adults are not immune either. The more we are tethered to screens, the more our real-world connections suffer.

Presence Is a Practice

Presence doesn’t just happen — it’s something we have to choose. At Yama Tea, we believe tea can help anchor us in that choice. Brewing a pot of tea is simple, but it invites mindfulness: the warmth of the cup, the scent of herbs, the first sip that slows your breath. These are not just sensory pleasures — they’re invitations to return to yourself.

When you take a moment to “Tea the Moment,” you're not just enjoying a drink. You're creating space for silence, for reflection, for genuine connection. Whether you drink it alone in the early morning light, or share it with someone dear after a long day, tea becomes a tool for presence.

A Small Cup, A Big Intention

Our teas are 100% certified organic, carefully sourced and blended to support both your well-being and the planet. But beyond that, each blend is crafted to align with a feeling — calm, clarity, energy, joy — so that the ritual you create is one that serves you.

We know that avoiding screen time is not the only answer. But taking intentional pauses, even short ones, can shift your entire day. It can help you reconnect with what matters. And that’s what Yama Tea is here for.

Let’s Take a Moment — Together

We invite you to join us in this quiet revolution. Brew slowly. Sip with intention. Reclaim your presence, one cup at a time.
